Gary Carter called Palm Beach Gardens Home

So many around the country and here in Palm Beach Gardens are saddened by the untimely death of baseball Hall of Famer, Gary Carter.  Carter passed away from a malignant brain tumor diagnosed in May of 2011. The former Mets and Expos star moved to PGA National in 1985.  The now defunct Montreal Expos trained in Jupiter and many of the ballplayers built homes in PGA National.

PGA National, in Palm Beach Gardens, is just a 10 minute drive to the Jupiter stadium.  Carter built his retirement estate in 1983 and finished in 1985.  The 5 bedroom 6 bath home is 7390 square feet, under air, on one level, situated on one of the largest lots at gated PGA National Resort & Golf Country Club in the Marlwood Estates subdivision.

Gary Carter was active in charities in the Palm Beaches.   He worked to eliminate students’ poverty status and advocated reading programs to combat school illiteracy.  His annual Hall of Fame Classic at Ironhorse Country Club, as well as other events , helped in raising over $600,000 for his charities by his efforts.
