In response to the suburban sprawl which is found in most of South Florida built since the 1950's, Abacoa in Jupiter was carefully planned to integrate work, live, play into a community of mixed use zoning and bringing all facets of community life together in one place.  Abacoa is a carefully planned community of 15 neighborhoods incorporating the needs of daily life in one integrated master plan with schools, recreation, higher education and scientific research facilities all within the overall plan.  One of the first communities to be built were the 188 Victorian styled townhomes of Charleston Court Abacoa town homes located on the west side of Abacoa near the Abacoa Golf Club.
